You never have to go hungry

What a week we have had.  Tyler and Alison showed up at our front door wanting to see Africa so we dropped everything and took them around.  We loved having them visit and see what we have been telling anyone who will listen about what a great cultural learning experience Africa can be.  You become much more grateful for how blessed the USA has been and will continue to be if we stay true to the teachings of the Savior.

Easter week is so fun here in Africa.  They have Palm Sunday where they bring palm leaves to church on the Sunday before Easter.  On Good Friday we saw two different parades of people carrying crosses and walking along the streets.  Today, as we drove to Busia, we saw a much larger groups coming to and from churches along the way because it is Easter.  I hope people will continue to come and worship every Sabbath day.  We need it!

It is interesting to me the Savior had to learn obedience the same way we do, through suffering. The big difference is He did it perfectly.  "Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him."  Hebrews 5: 8-9
Of course at Easter how can you not talk about the resurrection.  To know the Savior came and suffered for each of us is overwhelming.  Such love and devotion we should not forget. "Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the deadBut if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vainYea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise notFor if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perishedIf in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserableBut now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that sleptFor since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.  For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."  1 Corinthians 15: 12-22
May each of us be made alive because He does live.  I love my Savior Jesus Christ.
So many pictures this week I may have to break them up over a couple of weeks.
We took Tyler and Alison to Busia for Sacrament and the rest of the block meetings.  A chicken decided to join us for a time.

Alison was such a blessing to our Branch playing the piano.  The kids loved it.

These flowers are supposed to be poison and I did not verify by taste.  We spent the night at Sipi Falls.

The middle falls at Sipi after the recent rain.  A bit muddy but the water cleared up later.

We had to hike to the upper falls through the banana trees.  There had been a very heavy rain storm just before we started the hike and it was very slippery and muddy.

This my friends is a true mountain woman.  She is right at home in the forest.

We made it but by the time we got back to the bottom my seat was dark brown (no, not what you are thinking) from two falls on my bum.  The Africans seems to get great pleasure at my dirty bum at the bottom of the hill.

This was at the bottom of the hike and one of the prettiest scenes I have seen here.  The picture does not do it justice.

Oh my, is this the dirty bum I have heard so much about?

This little guy was just running up and down the muddy road with the wheel burrow.  It was cute.

In honor of Easter - when the cock crows thrice...hardships are necessary to make us who the Lord would have us be.

You can see the middle falls from our front window of our cabin.  It was sweet.

View from Ty and Al's deck.

We got up bright and early to do the hike.  No slips this time, much better.

This was a trail of ants going across the trail.  I offered 5,000 Shillings for anyone to sit for one minute. No takers.

Going across the bridge.

Such pretty birds.

This was our first giraffe in Chobe.  Nice colors.

Entrance sign.

I thought I would take everyone out to see the animals.  It lasted only until the staff saw an impostor in the front of the vehicle.

Almost as soon as we got there they took us to see two elephants who were eating right by the lodge.

We went back to our table for lunch and guess who came and ate just below our deck table.

These two would paw the ground and eat the bugs that would show up.

Tyler trying some of the local food.  He loved it...not.

Al trying a little bit of the meat and then would not let go.  No one dared to try and take it from her.

Our first deer like creatures.

This time with horns.

They had these random red flowers every so often all by themselves.

After a while you can see they get a little tired of posing for pictures.

It had been raining during the day and cloudy but we were happy it broke up enough for some wonderful sunset pictures.

In the morning we came out and found someone had beat us to the pool.

We got up early in the morning to see the hippos return back to the water.  They have no sweat glands so they spend the day covered in water.  I always thought they were feeding all day in the water but have since learned they graze on grass just like other animals but only at night.  They will travel up to 18km each night to feed.

I was within 30 feet of this guy as he headed back to the water.

Sister Squire found the gym that looks out over the pools and then the Nile river.

The gym is at the end of the fourth smallest pool.

I just went for a short walk.

There are just too many cool pictures to share so I will share some really cool lion pictures next week.  This picture was a herd we saw on our way to Paara for our second night in the park.  Babies and adults sharing a damp bog within 20 yards of the road.

I don't even know how to explain this next picture.  I have no idea what this rendezvous will produce. Perhaps a Zeorse?

This photo is for my lizard loving grandchildren, how many lizards can you see in this picture?

Now, if you look around, the world is full of good nutrition rich foods so you never have to go hungry.  Here is a very fine centipede just there for the taking.

Later in the night I found this frog just hopping around the hotel screaming "eat me!"

Next week the Lion King returns...
